Candidates applying for Air Force and Navy should be service graduates or should be in Final year Graduation.

An opportunity for the bright and energetic deserving candidates is available for the N.D.A/Naval Academy. This opportunity is open to relatively younger candidates with 10+2 qualification. N.D.A. & N.A. provides assumed carrer at a young age with no financial burden for the training. The training at N.D.A. culminates with a graduation degree from JLNU the three year training at N.D.A. is followed by one year professional training at I.M.A. for the army A.F.A. for air force respectively.

U.P.S.C. conducts the N.D.A. and Naval Academy examination twice every year assumaly in the month of April and September.

Examination is conducted to select 350 candidates with 214 for army 43 for navy and 73 for Air force and 20 for executive branch of application candidates are required to give their preference for particular branch of the force.

For September examination advertisement comes usually in April and for April exam usually appears in September/October. A declared about alie appears in “employment news” of the coming week.

Only unmarried male candidates of the age group of 16.5 to 19 years are eligible to take the examination for N.D.A./Naval academy (executive branch). Educational qualification for Army and Air Force wing of the N.D.A. is 12 th pass (10+2 pattern or equivalent) for the Naval of N.D.A. and N.A. (executive branch) the educational qualification is 12 the pass of 10+2 pattern with physics and mathematics or equivalent. The candidates appearing for the final examination of 10+2 standard are also eligible to appear.

To appear in the examination a citizen of India or a subject of Butan or Nepal, Tibetan refugees or person of Indian origin, Nigsated fron Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia and vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India are also eligible. However, candidates belonging to there categories need to oblian a certificates of eligibility from the Govt. of India.

A candidate seeking admission in the examination must send his application form to the U.P.S.C. on the performances given in the advertisement. Admission to the examination is purely provisional as so certificates are require to be attached with the application.

The candidates are listed in two papers of 2.5 hours duration each. The first paper is Mathematics and carries a maximum of 600 marks. The question paper consists of objective type questions and are set in english/Hindi. There is no fixed pass percentage marks and depending on the number of candidates appearing in the examination and their overall performance, the qualifying marks are determined.

The paper I on Mathematics is of the matriculation examination standard and consists of question on Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Static. Paper II on General ability consists of two parts. Part A – comprise of test of English language by the candidates and carries 200 marks. Part B of paper II consists of General knowledge carrying 400 marks and has six selections. The weightage given to these section of G.K. is Physics 25%, chemistry 15%, General Science 100%, History Freedom Movement etc. 20%, Geography 20% and current affairs 10%.

Intelligence and Personality Test – as like C.D.S. examination all candidates clearing N.D.A. written exams has to undergo S.S.B. training. After qualifying S.S.B. a candidates has to undergo medical examination.

On the basis of the candidates in the written examination and the personality test a final merit list is prepared and published in all leading newspaper. The candidates on the basis of their rank in the final merit list and preference, are asfed to join the N.D.A. or Naval Academy.

The three years training at N.D.A. includes the qualifying of certain physical standards, basic knowledge of the three wings of the armed forces and study of academies leading to a graduation degree. In addition basic norms discipline, ettiquetes, rules drills etc are also taught. After successful training spreading over six months each at the N.D.A., the candidates as per their choice, go to the Indian Military Academy of Army or to the Naval Academy for Navy or to Air Force Academy for Air Force for two terms of six months each on successful completion of training at these academies, the cadets are commisioned into the defence force as a Lieutant (Army) or Sub Lievtent (Navy) or flying officer (Air Force). during the past six months of tracing the cadets are into entitled to salary which is given to them in commissioning.
